Project: Digital Voyage.

Welcome to digital voyage

Imagined by musical artist ReSeT Ryan Tram, Digital Voyage is a concept album detailing the story of two close characters separated by an unexpected event. Each song expresses various feelings that each person might have in their newfound situations.

for a new look — rebranding

As Digital Voyage was under development, ReSeT felt it was necessary to update his brand to move towards the new direction of his music. During this transition, I photographed and edited his new profile icons and the first pass of a long-form video announcement entailing the upcoming updates on his music.

bring the hype — individual releases

ReSeT has released music since 2015, showing his growth with every new track. Three singles were released to entice listeners on what's to come. As these tracks were separate releases, each needed album art and social media promotions. I designed the album art for each release, resized existing footage for Spotify canvases, and edited social media promotional shorts. As ReSeT wanted to emphasize the digital element of his vision, each album art was further glitch-processed on his end. For the tracks Past The Sun and Elevate, I designed motion graphics to create visual contrast for social media promotions.

We Are What We Do

At the time of these designs, ReSeT pitched his vision for the Digital Voyage album art, and it was my task to bring it to life. As per ReSeT's request, various elements for Elevate, We Are What We Do, and Digital Voyage's album art were generated through Midjourney and further glitch-processed.

let's tell a story — digital voyage trailer

The second most extensive part of this project (aside from the music itself) would be the album trailer. This trailer portrays the album's story before the two characters' separation and explores the vast new digital world they both venture into. For the video's production, I played one of the lead characters (the red silhouette), filmed various shots, and assisted in equipment setup. After the video shot, I compiled the footage in preparation for ReSeT to sync his music and select his desired shots. Once the core video framework was selected, I used the roto brush in Adobe After Effects and isolated the two main characters onto separate layers. ReSeT had a desired effect he wanted each character to have — glitch-processing was done on his end. Throughout ReSeT's VFX world-building and glitch-processing, I suggested ways to make the video more visually compelling, insights on shadows, and tricks to add movement to stagnant shots. Finally, at the end of the trailer, I animated the project's title, Digital Voyage, and the album release date.

branding clothes — t-shirt designs

I was allowed much more creative liberty during the t-shirt design process. ReSeT's vague outline required the designs to have themes of a voyage and elements of digital glitch. The first iterations of designs were for the front of the shirt (above the heart) and used various motifs from the album. As I researched other artists' apparel trends, I noticed some put their album art onto apparel with limited additional designs. This led to my decision to create vectorized, minimalist versions of all the album designs I've produced for this project.

With the front designs completed, ReSeT wanted a design on the back stretching along the spine of the shirt. In addition to the previous criteria, he wanted an emblem as the main focal point, and his logo was stylized to fit the design.

and that's a wrap — Thanks for the journey!

This has been an incredible journey full of highs and lows. Each step came with its own set of challenges — creatively and personally. As much as this was ReSeT's vision and passion, I wanted to match that level of creativity and passion. To me, this project was like stepping into a new world — exploring elements that felt familiar while confronting challenges to help me advance. While I still think I have room to grow, I am thrilled to have been a part of an adventure. Thank you for reaching the end of my case study!
